History of ShipBikes.com

Aircaddy.com and Shipbikes.com are an evolution of the bicycle business.

However, this might never have happened if not for a beautiful hand-built green Waterford bicycle our parent company shipped in August of 1994.

The bicycle was road tested, completely disassembled, packed with paper and encased in foam pipe insulation. We sent the bicycle out to the customer believing all was well. However , the customer called back telling us that, though beautiful, the Waterford had a dent in the top tube. We apologized, but assured the customer not to worry because the bicycle was completely insured.

Naturally, we were outraged when the freight adjuster arrived and informed us that the claim could not be honored because the bicycle was “not properly packed.” So, with over 35 years experience of working on bicycles, the you-know-what hit the fan.

This drawing was the original notarized sketch made on an airline flight to the national bicycle show in September of 1994.

We are completely convinced that there is no better or safer way to ship a bicycle than an AIRCADDY®. But you don’t need to take our word for it; we feel our three patents and over ten thousand happy customers more than back up our claim.
